Let κ < λ be regular uncountable cardinals. Using a finite support iteration of ccc posets we obtain the consistency of b = a = κ < s = λ. If μ is a measurable cardinal and μ < κ < λ, then using similar techniques we obtain the consistency of b = κ < a = s = λ.

We provide a lower bound for the consistency strength of the hypothesis proposed by S. Kamo: ∃κ > א0 s(κ) ≥ κ. 0. Introduction. In [3] ,[10] cardinal invariants on ω are generalized for uncountable regular cardinals and it is shown that some of their properties still hold true for their uncountable counterparts. However, the role of the splitting number s(κ) (for the definition see below) changes...
متن کاملA forcing construction of thin-tall Boolean algebras
It was proved by Juhász and Weiss that for every ordinal α with 0 < α < ω2 there is a superatomic Boolean algebra of height α and width ω. We prove that if κ is an infinite cardinal such that κ = κ and α is an ordinal such that 0 < α < κ++, then there is a cardinal-preserving partial order that forces the existence of a superatomic Boolean algebra of height α and width κ. Furthermore, iterating...

We present a technique for destroying stationary subsets of Pκκ using partial square sequences. We combine this method with Gitik’s poset for changing the cofinality of a cardinal without adding bounded sets to prove a variety of consistency results concerning saturated ideals and the set S(κ, κ+). In this paper we continue our study of consistency results concerning the set S(κ, κ) = {a ∈ Pκκ ...
متن کاملFORCING FOR hL AND hd
The present paper addresses the problem of attainment of the supremums in various equivalent definitions of hereditary density hd and hereditary Lindelöf degree hL of Boolean algebras. We partially answer two problems of J. Donald Monk, [13, Problems 50, 54], showing consistency of different attainment behaviour and proving that (for the considered variants) this is the best result we can expec...
